The competition consists of the categories:

A Cappella Pop Ensemble
with a maximum of 12 singers.

A Cappella Jazz Ensemble
with a maxium of 12 singers.
Participants in the Jazz category must perform music that reflects the harmonic, rhythmic, and stylistic elements of jazz groups such as the New York Voices, Real Group, Swingle Singers, HiLos, Manhattan Transfer, Take Six, Singers Unlimited, and so on. At least one swing piece is required.

A Cappella Comedy Ensemble
with a maxium of 12 singers.
Ensembles may perform in German and/or English. Judges will assess musical quality as well as originality, arrangements, lyrics, audience appeal and stage performance.
- A Cappella Classical Vocal Ensemble
with a maxium of 8 singers.
The songs in this category must originate from different ages of classical vocal music (e.g. early vocal polyphony, baroque, classical and romantic music, 20th century, contemporary music,...) Five original scores must be made available in advance. The competition will take place in the Minoriten hall which has excellent acoustics. No microphones are allowed.
- Beatboxing Battle
The Beatboxing Battle will not be publicly advertised, participants will receive an invitation from the organisers.
Groups are responsible for the allocation to the categories themselves. Organiser or jury are not responsible for a participation in a wrong category. If in doubt contact the organiser for advice.
It is possible to perform in more than one category. In this case different songs have to be performed in each category.
